Laura has always been intrigued by the human body. Laura spent much of her youth playing on competitive/varsity sports teams, sustaining many injuries which inspired her to better understand the body. She earned a Specialized Honours BSc. degree in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University and earned her Advanced Diploma with Honours in Massage Therapy in April 2019 at Centennial College. She not only learned how to manually manipulate structures of the body to help facilitate its own healing process, but also learned the importance of active listening, patience and empathy. Laura believes that a good massage therapist must not only be able to massage well, but must also embody interpersonal skills.
Laura’s approach to treatment is holistic and long term. She takes the time to understand her clients through a thorough interview/assessment and believes it is incredibly important to educate her clients. Laura incorporates remedial exercise and self-care into her client’s treatment plans and believes that empowering her clients to facilitate their own healing through remedial exercise and self-care is just as important as seeking regular massage therapy. She has worked with conditions such as sprains, strains, neck pain, back pain, scoliosis, headaches, pregnancy, progressive and non-progressive neurological disorders. Laura likes to use a variety of techniques and modalities during treatment, such as Swedish massage, myofascial and direct fascial release, trigger point therapy, hydrotherapy and joint mobilizations.
