Tinctures
What is a Tincture?
Tinctures are liquid extracts of flowers, leaves, bark, roots etc, usually in alcohol, for weeks and then strained and concentrated to obtain the active constituents of the plant. Alcohol is considered a great solvent as it is food grade and allows for the medical constituents such as the resin and alkaloids to be used. Typically dosages are no more more than 1 tablespoon of the extract.
Other extractions can be glycerin based or vinegar based (upon request) Water is not used as it is poorly soluble
We stock an array of single tinctures that can be combined to address individual patient concerns such as: immunity, fertility, menstrual irregularities, anxiety, digestion, hormonal imbalances, sleep concerns, stress and more!

Infusion Instructions
To make an infusion, add 2 teaspoons of dried herbs in 1 cup of boiling water. You may make 3 days worth (6 teaspoons to 3 cups of water) and let it sit for at least 30 minutes (best at 4 hours). You then strain it, making sure to squeeze out as much liquid as possible. The remaining plant matter can then be put in your compost. Once your infusion is finished and cooled, keep it in the refrigerator. It generally doesn’t keep well out of the fridge and even when refrigerated, should be kept no longer than about 3 days.
