PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE

CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT

Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive form of primary health care that integrates evidence-based therapies with traditional and natural approaches to deliver optimal treatment for each patient. It encompasses the treatment of various diseases, including chronic illnesses, while also prioritizing disease prevention and health promotion.

Naturopathic Doctors focus on preventive health and chronic disease management. Similar to medical doctors, naturopathic doctors assess and diagnose conditions by gathering information about the patient's health history and symptoms, conducting physical examinations, ordering laboratory tests, and analyzing imaging to confirm their diagnoses.

In preventive healthcare, NDs emphasize the importance of being monitored throughout your healthcare journey. As primary care providers, they understand approaches needed and aim for most effective, least invasive, in the best interest of the patient. This may entail anything from therapeutic interventions such as supplements to lifestyle modifications including nutrition, exercise, stress management, and sleep, to promote overall well-being and reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases.

If warranted the Naturopathic Doctors will refer you to our in clinic Nurse Practitioner for pharmaceutical interventions.

Chronic disease management, NDs work alongside conventional medical treatments (ie your family doctor)  to provide complementary care. As primary care providers, they have the knowledge to understand processes, interactions and help patients manage conditions.

They do so by focusing on personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual's needs, considering their unique health history and goals. This may include understanding their medications better, implementing natural therapeutic interventions, monitoring their progress through blood work and more.

It's important to note that while NDs undergo rigorous training in naturopathic medicine, their scope of practice may vary depending on the jurisdiction. It's always recommended to consult with a licensed ND to determine the best approach for your specific health concerns.
